Books That Matter

Words have meaning.

I have tried to take this obvious fact to heart in all I do, because I think the act of writing has become abused by the very technology I love so much. I love a well-written letter, article, summary, song, poem or book, and I am a voracious reader of genres that run the gamut. Below are some favorites:

FICTION
I really need to add more fiction to my diet. I do not read enough of it, but some favorites:

  • Contact
  • Heart of Darkness
  • All the Light We Cannot See
  • Moby-dick
  • The Old Man and the Sea
  • Anything by David Sedaris
  • Matterhorn

NONFICTION
Too many to name, but some recent favorites from my 2020 and 2021 diet:

  • Think Again
  • The Daily Stoic: 366 Meditations on Wisdom, Perseverance, and the Art of Living
  • The Dragons and the Snakes: How the Rest Learned to Fight the West
  • The Warmth of Others Suns: The Epic Story of America’s Great Migration
  • The Color of Law: A Forgotten History of How Our Government Segregated America
  • The Coddling of the American Mind
